Using the Shabbos Warmer on Shabbos

After scrambling forever to get our Shabbos dinners prepared, a friend suggested trying a Shabbos Warmer by Vikron.  I never really liked using blechs and hot plates take up a lot of counter space. I took the plunge and haven’t looked back since. This is what happened.

Normally I am scrambling to get everything ready Friday afternoon, between the kids home from school early, cooking, and last minute to dos our house is meschuga.

So the Shabbos Warmer is delivered on Thursday and the delivery guy is nice enough to bring it in and help me get it out of the box ($5 later).  Thankfully it’s already assembled.  I started preparing on Friday morning and at 3:00 plugged in the cart. Vikron told me I could use my good china so I decided to give it a try and use a couple of platters.

I used a soup turine, large bowls, pyrexs and a couple of platters. It really worked. I put the food in around 4 and it was still piping hot that night for Shabbos dinner.

Tip: they suggested putting in the soup bowls and dinner plates.  It was great putting the hot food on hot plates!

I can’t wait until Yom Tov. Chag Samegh!
